Class VIII student Subhayu Podder was featured in the Times Newspaper in Education (Times NIE) for his article on why young people should be free to choose careers aligned with their passions.

Choosing Career is Our Prerogative

One thing parents often don’t understand about teenagers is that we want to choose a career that matches our interests and passions, not just one that is considered safe or prestigious. While parents encourage careers in fields such as science or commerce, teenagers often have talents and dreams in areas like sports, theatre, music, dance, art or other creative professions.

When we are allowed to pursue what we genuinely enjoy, we are more likely to stay motivated, work hard and achieve success. Passion gives the confidence to overcome challenges and develop our full potential.

Parents play an important role in shaping their children’s future. Instead of deciding a career for them, they should guide, support and encourage them to explore their interests. By helping teenagers develop their skills and abilities in the field they love, parents can enable them to build fulfilling and successful careers while also leading happier lives.
